VO: Space & Session
Step 1 of 3 — Select the space and describe the session.
SAG-AFTRA is the union for professional voice actors and performers. If your talent is union, the session must meet SAG-AFTRA requirements (session fees, breaks, overtime rules).
Pricing impact: "Yes" adds standard SAG-AFTRA session fees to the estimate — these are contractual minimums set by the union, not studio charges.
Not sure? No problem — select "Not Sure" and we'll confirm during booking.
VO: People & Tech
Step 2 of 3 — Who's involved and what equipment is needed?
MI provides an audio engineer who operates the recording equipment, sets levels, manages your session files, and ensures broadcast-quality results. Best for clients who don't have their own engineer.
Bringing your own means your engineer runs the session using our equipment. They should be familiar with Pro Tools or comparable DAWs.
Pricing: MI-provided engineer is an add-on fee based on session duration (half-day or full-day rate).
In-Studio — your director/producer will be on-site in the control room, giving direction in real time through talkback.
Remote — they'll direct via Source Connect, Zoom, phone patch, or another connectivity option below. We'll set up the feed so they can hear takes and give notes live.
No — talent will self-direct, or direction will be provided via written notes. Common for pickups and established talent.
| Option | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Teleprompter | Displays script for talent to read during recording | Includes operator |
| Video Playback (ADR/sync) | Plays back video for talent to match dialogue or timing | For ADR, dubbing, sync work |
| Microphones (MI provided) | Studio microphones selected and set up by MI | Neumann, Sennheiser, etc. |
| Pro Tools / DAW | Digital audio workstation for recording & editing | Included with engineer |
| Source Connect | High-quality remote audio between studios over IP | Modern ISDN replacement |
| ISDN (legacy) | Broadcast-quality audio link between two ISDN codecs | Being phased out industry-wide |
| Phone Patch | Phone line patched into the console for remote directing | Direction only, not broadcast quality |
| Zoom / Video Conf. | Video call for remote directing with visual | Medium quality, easiest setup |
VO: Delivery & Notes
Step 3 of 3 — Post-production and any additional details.
Raw Files Only — you receive the unedited session recordings as-is. Best when you have your own post-production team.
Basic Editing — we clean up takes: remove false starts, mouth clicks, breaths, and deliver polished individual files. No mixing or mastering.
Full Edit & Mix — complete post-production: editing, noise reduction, EQ, compression, level matching, and final mix-down to your specs.
